The K.I.N.G. Programme
Actively SeeK.I.N.G. is about rebuilding the K.I.N.G. (knowledge, identity, nurturer, and gifts) in young black men.
Knowledge:
In the K.I.N.G. programme, knowledge is a cornerstone. We strive to empower young black men with a well-rounded education that encompasses not only traditional academic subjects but also their cultural heritage and history. Through engaging workshops, discussions, and mentorship, we equip them with the necessary tools to succeed in their studies and encourage a love for learning that extends beyond the classroom. By promoting knowledge, we aim to instill confidence and a sense of purpose in these young minds, empowering them to pursue their dreams and aspirations.
Identity:
At the heart of the K.I.N.G. programme is exploring and celebrating personal identity. We recognise the importance of understanding one’s roots, culture, and individuality. Through open and supportive discussions, we help young black men embrace their heritage and develop a strong sense of self. By fostering a positive self-image, we encourage them to stand tall amidst challenges, resist stereotypes, and take pride in their uniqueness. Embracing their identity empowers these young men to face the world with authenticity and resilience confidently.
Nurturing:
The K.I.N.G. programme provides a safe and nurturing environment where young black men can find support, guidance, and encouragement. Our team of dedicated mentors and counsellors offers emotional and social support, allowing participants to express themselves freely and without judgment. Through one-on-one sessions and group activities, we prioritise their emotional well-being, helping them navigate through the complexities of adolescence with confidence and grace. By nurturing their emotional growth, we empower these young men to build healthy relationships, handle stress, and develop the inner strength necessary to succeed in life.
Gifts:
In the K.I.N.G. programme, we believe that every young black boy possesses unique gifts and talents. We encourage participants to explore their passions, interests, and natural abilities, fostering an environment that encourages creativity and self-expression. Through workshops, artistic pursuits, and skill-building activities, we help them uncover and develop their gifts. By recognizing and nurturing their talents, we empower these young men to channel their abilities positively and contribute to their communities meaningfully, ultimately shaping them into confident and purposeful individuals.
The K.I.N.G. programme aims to uplift, inspire, and support young black men as they navigate their journey to adulthood, equipping them with the tools and knowledge they need to become empowered, culturally aware, and self-assured leaders in their communities and beyond.
