Don't Write Me Off: Research and Development

We launched our three-week research and development project, collaborating with young Black boys and girls and professional artists to co-create a powerful new play titled “Don’t Write Me Off.” This project provided an opportunity to amplify the voices of Black boys, sparking dialogue and promoting healing through the arts.

About the Play: “Don’t Write Me Off” follows JUBAL and NM as they navigate complex personal and social challenges — exploring themes of friendship, dreams, faith, family dynamics, and societal pressures. The story culminates in a confrontation that highlights their diverging paths and the realities of youth life today.

I AM : Easter Drama Workshop

We created, performed, and shone through an intensive two-week Easter drama workshop designed for aspiring actors to develop their skills and confidence. Participants collaborated with industry professionals to devise an original piece, attended a theatre trip, and completed the project with a live showcase that demonstrated their growth and creative achievements.

West End Theatre Trip

Through the incredible generosity of our community on GoFundMe, we were thrilled to take our boys to watch “For Black Boys…” in the West End. This outing was not just about entertainment — it was about expanding horizons, igniting passions, and fostering a love for the arts. Here’s our K.I.N.G.s with the cast from the play.

West End to Watch Retrograde

We took our group of young Black actors to see Retrograde, an acclaimed play by award-winning writer Ryan Calais Cameron (also known for For Black Boys…), which explores a pivotal moment in the life of trailblazing actor Sidney Poitier. We are grateful to Nimax Theatres for their generous support in making this experience possible for our group.
